Duct Systems
The duct system in your home needs to be inspected each year just as your heating and air conditioning system needs servicing. Tears, disconnects, fallen flex lines and water saturated duct lines need to be addressed and repaired immediately.
If your HVAC duct work system is located in the crawlspace of your home, it is subject to a damp, low level area. Duct lines that fall from their securing straps and lay on the dirt ground can become saturated with water. If tears develop due to age, natural elements, or animal damage, the flex lines can suck dirt and debris into your duct system. This debris could travel into your heating and air conditioner system causing damage and it will redistribute throughout your home.
Heating and air conditioning duct work in the attic of a home is exposed to different elements. Rodents can still enter the attic space and cause damage, but the main concern All Comfort Heating and Cooling has for damaged duct work in an attic is the possibility of attic insulation being sucked into the duct work and then distributed into your home.
Duct work that has not been inspected over a long period of time may have damages that are rapidly becoming more severe. Tears in flex lines can turn into full disconnects and saturated duct work can produce mold. As stated above you risk pulling dirt, debris, fiberglass and even animal feces into your home. You also run the risk of increasing your energy bill due to loss of conditioned air.
